Plitvice Lakes National Park

On our second day in Croatia, we took an 8:00 AM bus ride to the Plitvice Lakes National Parks. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain the entire bus ride, as well as when we got off the bus.

It made for an interesting morning, but soon enough the rain let up and we had the opportunity to witness this....

Took a ferry ride from the upper to lower lakes

My favorite picture

Maybe this one too...

The strikingly clear and blue water has been created in part by chemical reactions involving calcium carbonate, which has continued to be extracted from water and deposited onto lake floors.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my entire life. I am so happy we decided to stop by on the way to the coast...
